Casablanca Reworks

reworks

Gomma Records have prepared reworks of classic Casablanca Records tunes, like Maniac by Michael Sembello among others, to give classic sounds more modern touch. Enough to say it created all the fuss in the interwebz. Give them a listen and you’ll know why.

I think the best one is Telonius&Peaches - Our Love (origanally sung by Donna Summer). It’s so nicely produced, with this slight acid feel to it. Gives me chills everytime. It’s definitely a winner and will get lots of plays in clubs.

Olav Basoski - New Day

(aaaand back to blogging)

I probably shouldn’t post anything I heard on a radio, right? Not really showing my great digging skills here. Anyway, it’s perfect discohouse by Olav Basoski. Maybe those sleigh bells are a bit tacky, but the groove is fantasic.

Demon - You Are My High

What a surprise. I was sure that this track was released many years ago, but apparently record label wanted to do so after a long long time.
Anyway, I’m posting a bootleg version that is a bit more funky than original. I totally love the bassline here.

Go check out the whole release on Beatport with remixes from Vitalic and Money Penny.

Chaka Khan

This track ism’t one that is going to be played much in clubs nowadays. At least not in those where youngsters go to. Still a great track.

And this one you basically have to know. Intro to the song should ring a bell.

C90s January Chart

Tdkc60cassette

How do you recognize a good chart?

1. There are some tracks you already know.

2. There’s a few track you don’t know.

3. Some of those you don’t know are great pieces that make you bob your head.

4. Great chart has lots of track you don’t know and they are stunning.

Given that, I’d give The C90s 6/10.

(1-boring and unimaginative, 10-fantastic selection and brilliant mixing)

Fun fact:
C90 is a type of a cassette. If you’re young enough you probably haven’t ever seen it.
